Registered Nurse The Registered Nurse functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population in order to achieve desired outcomes. The position focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients, directs and oversees the care provided by other caregivers, and coordinates unit activities among nursing peers, physicians and support services. Responsibilities Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation. Perform age and disease‑specific assessment/data collection independently. Recognize clinical and diagnostic status changes. Identify variables in patient/family education needs. Develop a plan of care prescribing strategies and interventions to attain expected outcomes. Formulate age and disease‑specific patient/family‑centered goals and outcomes. Coordinate a prioritized plan of care encompassing the continuum of care. Communicate, coordinate, and implement the plan of care. Provide ongoing communication with patient/family, nursing colleagues, and other healthcare team members regarding patient status, rendered care, and treatment plans. Implement age and disease‑specific care in an organized and timely manner. Provide or coordinate patient/family education as needed and ensure understanding. Perform according to established clinical protocols, communicate appropriately, and document events. Provide nursing care and treatments that reflect patient needs, advocate appropriately, and demonstrate evidence‑based practice and compliance with standards. Perform continuous point‑of‑care electronic documentation of assessments, plans, interventions, and evaluation. Administer medication utilizing bar‑scanning and documentation technologies. Multidisciplinary discharge planning to ensure safe transition and continuity of care. Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes. Utilize critical thinking based on nursing knowledge to achieve desired outcomes. Initiate interventions related to patient’s change in condition and unexpected response to care. Identify ethical issues and bring them to the attention of other team members. Recognize and respond to opportunities enhancing patient satisfaction. Acquire and maintain competencies, certifications, and continuing education required by facility accreditation or licensing. Adhere to the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses with Interpretive Statements. Lift a minimum of 35 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day. Adhere to HMH organizational and managerial competencies and standards of behavior. Other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of an associate or diploma in Nursing. BSN in progress or willing to complete within three (3) years of hire. Valid Registered Nurse license to work at the assigned HMH location by date of hire. BLS/CPR certification by the American Heart Association required within 60 days of hire. Six (6) months or more of relevant nursing experience, or active participation in Hackensack Meridian Health’s Nurse Residency Program. Strong ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, a sense of accountability for improving patient lives, dedication to teamwork, ongoing education, and a passion for delivering high‑quality care. National certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible. Job Duties The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Posted hourly rates may be stated as an annual salary and vice versa. The base compensation may differ from the posted rate based on labor market data, experience, education and certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget or grant funding. In addition to full‑time and part‑time (20+ hours/week) positions, HMH offers comprehensive benefits that include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
