[POOL] PT Faculty, Women's Studies

Job Summary This posting is for a pooled position. Application submissions for a [POOL] are accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a continuous pool of qualified candidates for immediate review when the need arises. Applicants must reapply annually to maintain their active status in the pool. Responsibilities Teach core Women’s Studies classes. Act as a team member of the Social Science Department. Communicate the objectives of each course taught, grade according to those objectives, and report student progress toward those goals. Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. Successfully interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an educational team. Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable out-of-class contact with students. Prepare course descriptions, course outlines, and other material related to courses taught. Establish and maintain a class roll, and teach in conformance with approved course outlines. Participate in student appraisal of classroom learning. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Requires the ability to work with staff and students. Work is performed in a classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards. Master’s degree or 27 graduate quarter hours in Women’s Studies, Sociology, History, Art History, Anthropology, or a related field. Experience in teaching and the ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and operate as an effective member of a team. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities, creating inclusive classroom spaces centered on equity. Additionally, this program upholds the academic integrity of the discipline and complicates the study of gender and sexuality as a core component of what it means to be human. Employment Requirements Criminal Background Check - C4. Salary and Compensation Information Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps being “rolled” once per term, if eligible. Table 1 illustrates the cost per credit for each step on the pay scale. Instructors new to the College typically start at the rate listed in column 1. Table 3 illustrates the compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, or other related work. As a condition of employment, all new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit. Offers of employment are contingent on the applicant having Oregon residency at the time work commences. Employment is subject to completion of a post-offer criminal background check.
