Stabilization Specialist (Housing)

Position Summary As a Stabilization Specialist , you play a key role in supporting families as they work toward housing stability and long-term independence. This position helps ensure that families not only access housing opportunities but also receive the guidance, resources, and support needed to maintain stable housing. The Stabilization Specialist is responsible for completing program intakes, conducting initial assessments, developing stabilization plans, and providing housing search education and support. Through workshops, one-on-one assistance, and resource coordination, the Stabilization Specialist helps participants navigate housing systems and identify opportunities that support long-term housing stability. Because this role is funded through state contracts, responsibilities may shift over time based on evolving program needs. Flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to responsive service are key to success in this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Complete initial intake documentation in ETO and Apricot databases.
• Clearly explain tenant rights, responsibilities, and program expectations.
• Help families understand rent payment, lease compliance, and staying in good standing.
• Assist with applications for discount programs, fuel assistance, and address changes.
• Provide families with the Stabilization Guide and program expectations
• Enter ongoing case notes and information in ETO and Apricot databases.
• Connect families with community resources like workforce programs and furniture banks. Ongoing Responsibilities:
• Lead housing workshops and maintain regular office hours for participants' support.
• Share housing information and resources with families.
• Support families in navigating housing searches, landlord relationships, and tenancy skills.
• Request and review quarterly rent ledgers to monitor payment trends.
• Document rent ledger receipt and relevant updates through ETO case notes.
• Develop and distribute housing resource materials and informational handouts.
• Create and distribute newsletters for both participants and landlords.
• Send l andlord surveys to gather feedback regarding program experiences and tenant support.
• Assist Case Managers with preparation for housing appointments and housing court hearings when needed.
• Participate in housing-related trainings and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records and timely data entry in ETO and Apricot.
• Ensure smooth transitions to long-term Stabilization Case Managers.
• Participate in special projects, pilots, and contract scope changes; adapt workflows to meet new requirements.
• Carry out additional tasks as needed to support program goals and compliance. What You Bring to The Role
• Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 1-2 years of experience in housing, case management, or related human services preferred.
• Familiarity with housing resources, tenant rights, and public assistance programs.
• Ability to build trust and rapport quickly with families during times of transition.
• Clear communicator who can explain tenancy expectations and housing responsibilities. Experience facilitating workshops or group sessions and presenting housing education topics in a clear and engaging manner.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation; experience with ETO/Apricot is a plus.
• Comfortable collaborating with families, landlords, team members, and partner agencies.
• Proactive problem-solver who helps families navigate challenges with practical solutions.
• Able to balance direct client work with administrative and reporting responsibilities.
• Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
