This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, North America Compliance based in the United States.
This senior leadership role serves as a strategic compliance partner to U.S. Commercial and Market Access organizations.
You will provide practical, risk-based guidance across complex healthcare, pricing, reimbursement, customer engagement, and commercial activities.
The position combines strategic risk management with hands-on leadership of a modern North America Compliance Program.
You will work closely with senior leaders across Market Access, Sales, Marketing, Patient Services, Trade, Legal, and other functions.
The role offers significant influence in identifying emerging risks and translating evolving regulations into clear, actionable business guidance.
You will also lead compliance initiatives, strengthen policies and training, and help embed effective controls into commercial processes.

Accountabilities
- Serve as the lead Compliance business partner for the U.S. Commercial organization, with primary responsibility for Market Access and related access, reimbursement, and customer-facing activities.
- Provide strategic, timely, and practical compliance guidance to senior Commercial and Market Access leaders on business strategies, product launches, customer engagement models, and emerging initiatives.
- Advise on compliance matters involving payers, pharmacy benefit managers, group purchasing organizations, health systems, specialty pharmacies, distributors, wholesalers, integrated delivery networks, government accounts, and other market access stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on pricing and contracting activities, discounts and rebates, formulary discussions, value-based arrangements, patient support and affordability programs, reimbursement activities, and other market access initiatives.
- Partner with Legal and relevant subject-matter experts to evaluate complex commercial and healthcare compliance questions.
- Support Sales and Marketing teams on promotional practices, healthcare professional and customer interactions, speaker programs, advisory boards, sponsorships, field activities, and other external engagements.
- Develop a deep understanding of business objectives and operating models to anticipate risks, propose pragmatic solutions, and embed appropriate compliance controls into business processes.
- Partner with the Head of Compliance, Americas to execute North America compliance priorities and continuously strengthen a modern, risk-based compliance program.
- Identify and assess emerging risks related to the U.S. healthcare, enforcement, reimbursement, and commercial environment and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Lead or support compliance risk assessments, monitoring activities, audits, investigations, and remediation initiatives involving U.S. Commercial and Market Access operations.
- Analyze monitoring results, business data, industry developments, and other risk indicators to identify trends and recommend improvements to controls, training, policies, and processes.
- Support compliance governance and senior leadership reporting, clearly communicating significant risks, trends, decisions, and mitigation plans.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, field guidance, training programs, and other compliance resources.
- Design and deliver engaging, risk-based compliance training for Commercial and Market Access teams, including senior leadership and field personnel.
- Translate complex laws, regulations, enforcement developments, and industry standards into clear, actionable guidance for business stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, thoughtful risk-taking, transparency, and speak-up across the organization.
- Build trusted relationships with leaders across Commercial, Market Access, Legal, Corporate Affairs, HR, and other functions.
- Collaborate with global and regional Compliance colleagues to promote consistency, share best practices, and support enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional projects, launch readiness activities, governance forums, and strategic initiatives to ensure compliance is considered early in planning and execution.
- Provide visible compliance leadership through sound judgment, constructive challenge, executive presence, and a solutions-oriented approach.
- Directly lead, manage, coach, and develop assigned Compliance team members.
- Set priorities and expectations, provide ongoing feedback, support professional development, and promote a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Provide functional leadership and mentorship across the North America Compliance team and oversee contractors, consultants, or other resources as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree such as JD, PharmD, MBA, MPH, or similar is preferred.
- 12+ years of relevant experience in healthcare compliance, legal, regulatory, audit, or related functions within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry.
- Significant experience supporting U.S. commercial activities, with demonstrated expertise advising Market Access organizations.
- Strong understanding of the U.S. payer, reimbursement, patient access, trade and distribution, and contracting landscape.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. pharmaceutical compliance requirements and industry standards, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, federal and state transparency requirements, FDA promotional requirements, PhRMA Code, and OIG/DOJ expectations.
- Demonstrated experience advising on payer and customer engagement, discounts and rebates, contracting, formulary discussions, patient support programs, reimbursement support, specialty pharmacy, and other access-related activities.
- Experience conducting or supporting compliance risk assessments, monitoring, auditing, investigations, training, policy development, and remediation.
- Experience supporting product launches and operating successfully within fast-paced, matrixed, and evolving commercial environments is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional judgment and ability to assess complex or ambiguous issues while balancing regulatory risk with business objectives.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of commercial strategy, Market Access models, customer dynamics, and operational processes.
- Ability to translate complex compliance requirements into practical, business-focused guidance and workable solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders without relying on positional authority.
- Strong executive presence with excellent written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented approach, with the confidence to challenge constructively and navigate competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and manage multiple high-priority matters in a dynamic environment.
- Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, and people-management capabilities.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as collaboration platforms such as SharePoint and Teams.
- Experience with compliance, expense, CRM, analytics, or reporting platforms such as Concur, Salesforce, Power BI, or similar tools is preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically approximately 25% as business needs require.
