About the Job

GFS Chemicals is seeking a Part-Time Accounting Assistant to join our Corporate Division at our Powell location. The Part-Time Accounting Assistant supports the daily administrative and accounting operations of the accounting department. This position is responsible for assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer and vendor communications, recordkeeping, and general office support. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. This position is on-site, at our 155 Hidden Ravines Dr. location in Powell, with flexible daytime hours with a goal of working approximately 25 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable
• Process non-PO vendor invoices accurately and completely
• Review and reconcile invoice discrepancies.
• Assist with timely payment of invoices via check, wire transfer, or ACH.
• Perform vendor statement reconciliations.
• Address vendor inquiries regarding payment status and outstanding balances.

• Accounts Receivable
• Generate and issue customer invoices.
• Process incoming payments and apply them to the appropriate customer accounts.
• Reconcile customer accounts and research discrepancies.
• Communicate with customers, salespersons, and customer service regarding billing questions, payment status, and account inquiries.

• Administrative Support
• Assist with data entry and record retention activities.
• Support accounting staff with audit requests, reporting, and special projects.
• Assist with contractor, vendor, and customer administrative requests as needed.
• Order office supplies and assist with general office coordination.
• Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education & Experience:
• High school diploma required; Business or Accounting degree preferred
• 2-3 years of work experience required

• Core Skills:
• Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs.
• Must be able to learn other accounting software systems.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.
