Job Title: Interim Controller

Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking an Interim Controller to join our client to support financial operations, reporting accuracy, and regulatory compliance during a temporary engagement. This role will provide strategic oversight of accounting functions, budgeting activities, and financial controls while helping leadership make informed business decisions. The Interim Controller will collaborate with executive stakeholders, oversee finance staff, and ensure the organization maintains strong fiscal practices across multiple funding sources. This opportunity is based in Jacksonville, FL and is onsite in a temporary/contract capacity.


Compensation:
$45.00 - $60.00/hour


Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, normal business hours


Key Responsibilities of the Interim Controller:

• Lead the organization's accounting and financial reporting activities, ensuring accurate records, timely reporting, and adherence to applicable accounting standards and compliance requirements.
• Direct budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts, including budget monitoring, variance analysis, and presentation of key financial insights to leadership and stakeholders.
• Oversee cash management strategies, banking relationships, and financial forecasting to maintain operational stability and support long-term objectives.
• Manage grant-related financial processes, including budget development, compliance monitoring, reporting requirements, and tracking of multiple funding sources.
• Strengthen and maintain internal control processes while coordinating audit activities and addressing regulatory and financial compliance obligations.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance oversight for finance team members, fostering professional growth and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications and Skills for the Interim Controller:

• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, including responsibility for budgeting, audits, compliance, and financial reporting functions.
• Prior experience working within nonprofit organizations and managing complex funding structures or multi-location operations is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated success overseeing accounting teams while implementing or improving financial systems, policies, and operational procedures.
• Strong technical proficiency with accounting software, database systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel functions for analysis and reporting.
• CPA and/or MBA credentials are preferred.
• Knowledge of grant accounting, financial compliance, and reporting requirements associated with government, corporate, or foundation funding is a plus.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with professionalism and discretion.
