Senior COBOL DeveloperThe State of South Carolina is seeking a Senior COBOL Developer to support the maintenance and development of the core DMV business systems supporting South Carolina's Drivers and Vehicles. The selected consultant will work on complex, mission-critical COBOL applications, Oracle SQL databases, production support, system development, and technical software team leadership.Responsibilities:Maintain and develop complex, mission-critical COBOL applications in a Windows-based Client/Server environment.Perform system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation for new and existing systems.Develop and maintain COBOL-based business systems using Oracle SQL databases.Provide Level 3 (L3) production support for critical business applications.Lead technical software development teams in planning and deployment of software systems.Serve as the primary technical contact with business units to gather, develop, and review business and technical specifications.Ensure delivered software functionality meets defined business and technical requirements.Support the maintenance and enhancement of South Carolina DMV Drivers and Vehicles systems.Troubleshoot complex application issues and participate in testing, debugging, and implementation activities.Required/Preferred Skills:10+ Years of Experience with Visual and/or Micro Focus COBOL1+ Year of Experience with Visual COBOL V910+ Years of Experience developing and maintaining complex, mission critical applications in a Windows based Client Server environment.10+ Years of Experience Leading a technical software development team in planning and deployment of software systems.10+ Years of Experience coding and testing complex COBOL based business systems in an Oracle SQL database and Windows based client-server environment.10+ Years Experience providing Level 3 (L3) production support10+ Years Experience functioning as the primary contact with business units to develop and review business and technical specifications and ensure delivery of specified functionality.10+ Years of experience with computer system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation techniques and practices for developing new systems or modifying existing systems.Oracle 19+ SQLFamiliarity with Microsoft Visual Studio.NET / C# development environmentExperience working in a Governmental environmentBachelor’s Degree In Computer Science or a closely related disciplineVisual COBOL Technical Certifications
