Auto Body Technician

Gerber Collision & Glass – Abilene, TX Gerber Collision & Glass is actively seeking a skilled Auto Body Technician. Qualified individuals, including those with disabilities and Protected Veterans, are encouraged to apply. Key Job Responsibilities Consistently execute WOW (Wow Operating Way) plans. Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers. Use cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections. Handle dents, dimples, and other minor body damage, mixing and applying filler resins when necessary. Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage. Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts. Repair or replace glass and windshields as needed. Repair or replace interior parts as needed. Weld and attach parts to fit in place. Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or agreed‑upon equivalents. Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines. Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure correct execution. Perform other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience Required High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of a technical school program OR a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer. Required Skills and Abilities Read job orders and work with minimal supervision. Collaborate effectively with other repairers. Deep understanding of vehicle body repair methods and procedures. Proficiency in using required tools. Other Requirements Work safely in a noisy environment with many odors. Lift up to 30 pounds at times. Visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions. Perform bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting to conduct repairs and inspections. Physical Demands Must be able to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks essential to the role. Compensation is commensurate with location, skill, education, and experience. A guaranteed local or state minimum wage applies.
