Senior Counsel, U.S. Policy Legal

Senior Counsel role focused on developing and executing legal strategies for federal and state policy initiatives supporting product access. The position involves external policy engagement, cross-functional collaboration with Government Affairs and business teams, and providing regulatory advice on healthcare and pharmaceutical law matters.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive legal strategies for federal and state policy initiatives
- Provide counsel to Government Affairs and business clients on healthcare laws and regulations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Government Affairs, and Ethics and Compliance teams
- Oversee outside counsel, define project objectives, and manage legal projects
- Maintain current knowledge of AbbVie business imperatives and changes in applicable laws
Requirements
- J.D. and active license to practice law in a U.S. state
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant legal practice experience; 8+ years preferred
- Experience in law firm, government, trade association, or in-house legal roles
- Preferred experience with legislative and regulatory policy in healthcare or pharmaceutical industry
- Knowledge of federal and state healthcare laws, regulations, and policy frameworks
