Job Title: Flux Core MIG Welder / Fabrication Technician Job Description

This role focuses on flux core MIG welding on mild steel while also supporting general fabrication activities in a busy metal manufacturing environment. You will complete welds from start to finish, including grinding and finishing, and assist with fabrication tasks such as assembling products, running machines, and deburring components. From time to time, you will have the opportunity to work on TIG welding projects and expand your skills across welding, fabrication, and industrial processes.

• Perform flux core MIG welding on mild steel components using .045 wire in a production environment.
• Finish and grind your own welds to meet quality and appearance standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints to understand weld symbols, dimensions, and fabrication requirements.
• Assist general fabrication departments during slower welding periods, including assembling products and components.
• Run fabrication and production machines as needed to support workflow and output.
• Deburr and clean products to ensure smooth edges and proper fit for final assembly.
• Work on fencing, manholes, and other structural products used for highways, bridges, and state infrastructure.
• Use tape measures and other hand tools to accurately measure, cut, and fit materials such as sheet metal and stainless steel.
• Support occasional TIG welding projects and remain open to learning new welding processes and techniques.
• Follow shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Collaborate with shop leadership and coworkers to troubleshoot issues and improve production quality.
• Participate in training to develop skills in welding, fabrication, and industrial painting as needed.

• Minimum of 1+ years of MIG welding experience or completion of a relevant technical degree or welding program.
• Proficiency with flux core MIG welding, including experience with .045 flux core wire.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints for fabrication and welding projects.
• Experience using a MIG welder in a fabrication or production setting.
• Basic knowledge of working with mild steel and familiarity with sheet metal and stainless steel.
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure and related hand tools for layout and measurement.
• Capability to grind and finish welds to meet quality standards.
• Willingness and physical ability to move between buildings and work across different areas of a large shop.

• Interest in learning TIG welding and taking on TIG projects when available.
• Willingness to learn fabrication processes and industrial painting techniques.
• Comfort working in a laid-back, blue-collar, construction-oriented shop culture.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with shop leadership and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and fabricated parts.

You will join a smaller, laid-back shop that prioritizes hands-on learning, skill development, and long-term growth. The role is based in approximately 35,000 square feet of warehouse space spread across multiple buildings, including a metal fabrication shop, machine shop, and office areas. Team members may move in and out of different buildings during the day as work requires. The facility houses a range of welding and fabrication equipment, including MIG welders, flux core setups, grinding tools, and machinery used for assembling and deburring products. The environment supports hands-on learning and high levels of production, with opportunities to take on varied tasks across welding, fabrication, and industrial work. A gas station with low-cost fuel is conveniently connected to the property, making commuting and daily logistics easier for those in the rural metro area. Work attire is typical for a fabrication shop, with an emphasis on appropriate footwear and protective gear; boot reimbursement is available after a qualifying period.

This is a Permanent position based out of LORETTO, MN.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
