Patient Access Manager

Manager of Patient Access Salary: $63,100 - $78,875 per year (based on experience). Job Overview The Manager of Patient Access is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, and managing the Patient Access department, ensuring high performance, customer service, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Directly manage operations for admitting, registration, and financial services departments at acute care locations. Oversight of admitting staff responsibilities: assigning accurate MRNs, completing medical necessity/compliance checks, providing patient instructions, collecting insurance information, processing physician orders, and delivering excellent customer service. Manage Financial Service Representatives, ensuring proper accounting procedures, balanced cash drawer, timely deposits, accurate posting to patient accounts, and completion of required logs. Develop and manage departmental staffing needs and prepare monthly performance reports. Establish departmental goals with staff to optimize performance, improve operations, and achieve financial targets. Coordinate employee work schedules to maintain adequate daily staffing coverage. Collect, interpret, and communicate performance data using tools and systems; use data to drive decisions toward achieving goals. Collaborate with internal and external customers to make key decisions that impact organization or patient care. Work with ancillary departments to maintain positive relations and achieve revenue cycle goals. Assist in the development of dyad-reporting patient access staff. Provide training, education, goal-setting, and performance interventions to ensure adequate performance. Qualifications Minimum 2–3 years of management experience in the healthcare industry. Experience in Patient Access with managed care/insurance or call center preferred. Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and capable of integrating with IT systems. Strong prioritization and multitasking skills. Knowledge of information technology and ability to collaborate with the IT department. Demonstrated advanced use of AI and management of teams using AI for process and technological improvements. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Healthcare Management/Administration. Required certifications: Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) and Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM). Benefits & Compensation Competitive salary with bonus incentives.
