Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to support students in dynamic school settings near Katy, TX. Two rewarding contract opportunities are available—one at the junior high level (Fulshear, TX) and another at the high school level (Richmond, TX). You’ll play an integral role interpreting in academic settings and extracurricular activities, encouraging student participation and providing access to a full educational experience.

What you’ll bring:

• Interpreter certification from either the Registry for the Deaf or the Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
• Valid TX driver’s license
• Some experience working with children or in educational settings
• Ability to adapt to varied student communication needs
• Willingness to complete district fingerprinting requirements (if not already on record)
• Professionalism and confidentiality in all student interactions

Your primary responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, extracurricular activities (including choir, dance, and cheer), school-related meetings, and ARD Committee meetings
• Tutor students who are deaf or hard of hearing under the direction of classroom teachers
• Provide 1:1 support for students during both school day and extracurricular events, with a focus on inclusive participation
• Assist with administrative recordkeeping and reporting as needed
• Help manage student behavior and intervene in crisis situations if necessary
• Maintain open communication with teachers regarding student progress or special needs
• Engage in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as assigned

These contract positions offer steady, school-day hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00am–4:30pm for full-time), with additional hours available for extracurricular support and flexibility to accommodate spring sports activities.
