About the Role
The Company is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to provide strategic leadership in legal services and compliance matters, with a focus on corporate functions and reinsurance businesses. The successful candidate will act as a senior legal advisor to executive leadership, ensuring that legal support is practical, business-oriented, and in line with regulatory obligations. This role involves direct oversight of regional enterprise transactions, privacy, and reinsurance functions, as well as significant involvement in mergers and acquisitions, investments, and financial matters. The Deputy General Counsel will also be responsible for corporate and board governance, and will serve as the primary legal advisor to the Chief Financial Officer and their financial and management reporting organization. Applicants for the Deputy General Counsel position at the company should have a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, be licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and have substantial experience in U.S. (re)insurance and/or insurance businesses. The role requires a candidate with a proven ability to advise senior executives, manage regulatory interactions, and lead and inspire a legal team. Key skills include a strong understanding of U.S. (re)insurance, commercial filing/market conduct requirements, corporate finance and governance, and mergers and acquisitions. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, excellent negotiation skills, and a commitment to high ethical standards and professionalism.
