Tax Associate

Summary

Whitecap Search is partnering with our client who is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating the preparation and review of various tax returns, supporting tax compliance, and assisting in tax audits. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Job Function:

• Coordinating the preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns, as well as extensions with external tax advisors.
• Preparing quarterly estimated payment and extension payment calculations.
• Preparing and analyzing data from general ledger and financial systems to support tax compliance and forecasting.
• Maintaining tax fixed asset ledgers in accounting systems and collaborating with internal teams to streamline processes.
• Assisting in quarterly and annual REIT asset and income tests.
• Assisting in shareholder reporting, such as Forms 1099-DIV.
• Supporting tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing supporting schedules, and coordinating with external advisors.
• Assisting with partnership tax matters, including tracking tax capital accounts and managing Schedule K-1 allocations across various joint venture structures.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Taxation; CPA license strongly preferred.
• 2 to 3 years of real estate tax experience in public accounting, with experience in REITs as a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly learn financial software.
• Strong analytical capabilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
