Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Indiana RN license or compact license required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience. Candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in a large hospital with 450 or more beds. Description: The unit sees a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, diabetes, and CHF. Patients may also have GI issues such as pancreatitis or inflammatory bowel diseases. Infections including pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, and UTIs are commonly managed. Neurological issues such as stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries are also present. Patients with mental health disorders, including depression and anxiety, may receive care. Procedures include colonoscopies, thoracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. General medical-surgical nursing care is provided. Essential skills include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Experience with electronic health records, IV pumps, wound vacs, and IV therapy management is required. Additional equipment utilized includes telemetry monitoring and feeding pumps. The unit requires 12-hour shifts and typically includes three weekend shifts in four weeks. Patient ratios are approximately 1:5 to 1:6. Floating to other medical units may be required. Dress code consists of Caribbean blue scrubs. Training includes general hospital orientation and nursing orientation, incorporating Epic classes.
