About the Position

Neurosurgery experience preferred. Epic charting experience required. Telemetry test must be passed prior to start. Description: This position requires evening and night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30. Every other weekend and some holidays are required. If time-off is requested for a scheduled weekend, there may be contingent weekend shifts. Experience in ICU is essential. Candidates with neurosurgery experience are preferred. The nurse will work with both ICU and IMC patient populations. The patient demographic includes adults and geriatrics. Daily census is approximately 12 patients. The unit has a total of 12 beds. The neuro ICU cares for patients with various neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Common diagnoses include ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, brain tumors, and traumatic brain injuries. Strong critical thinking skills are necessary for this role. Interventions may include managing vasoactive drips and conducting hemodynamic monitoring. The team is committed to providing expert care and supportive teamwork. The role may involve working with specialized equipment such as external ventricular drains and lumbar drains. All travelers are expected to float as needed. Local candidates within 50 miles will not be considered. Inpatients must have two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty. The telemetry exam is mandatory with strict passing criteria. The adult exam requires identification of lethal rhythms with no errors on specific questions. A passing score of 80% or higher is required on both the adult and pediatric exams. Failure to pass after three attempts will result in the cancellation of the assignment.
