Must be able to travel to both campuses in Oak Lawn and Park Ridge. Assignments are posted 90-120 minutes prior to shift start.

Premature infants, unstable newborns required medical care, surgical

Patient Ratios:

RN: 1:2

NO CNAs on unit

Required Certifications:

BLS, NRP

Skills required

SERVO and HFOV vents, traches, chest tubes, inhaled nitric oxide (iNO)

Umbilical and arterial lines, drips

NG, G-tube, and enteral feeds

Support on the Unit:

CNA: none on unit

Charge Nurse: Free floating

RT: 24/7

Neonatologist: 24/7

Nurses station and bedside monitoring, no tele tech

Each patient has their own stethoscope for infection prevention reasons

Charting System:

EPIC

Pyxis

Alaris

Phillips monitor

Floating: If yes, where?

Due to current census, NICU RNs have not been floating. However, there would be a chance to float to the pediatric inpatient unit ONLY if it were a NICU appropriate assignment. Another option, if willing, would be to float to another NICU within our system, but that is not an expectation; it would be a choice due to the distance (per manager, 8/20/2021).
