Accounting & Finance Manager

S9 Architecture is an award-winning architecture and design studio based in New York City. Our work spans multifamily residential, mixed-use, hospitality, workplace, adaptive reuse, and urban projects throughout North America. The Finance Manager will report directly to the firm’s leadership and work closely with the Founding Principal and external financial consultant. This role oversees the firm’s day-to-day accounting and financial operations and will manage and coordinate with the firm’s Project Accountant and related accounting functions. This position is highly collaborative and interacts regularly with studio leadership, project managers, consultants, and external advisors. The ideal candidate is comfortable working within a creative, fast-paced professional services environment and is capable of balancing accounting rigor with strong communication and organizational skills. Financial Operations & Accounting Manage the firm’s accounting operations utilizing Deltek Vison/ Vantagepoint ERP software Oversee accounts receivable processes Collections and client follow up Monitor cash flow and provide regular reporting to leadership Manage accounts payable processes including vendor setup, invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing Employee expense reimbursements and corporate credit card reconciliations Perform daily bank reconciliations Perform month-end close activities by the 15 th of each month Maintain and post general ledger accounts and support accruals, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules Support bi-monthly payroll processing Coordinate with external CPA and consultants regarding tax filings, compliance, and annual reporting Prepare and process quarterly sales tax returns and Commercial Rent Tax Returns Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis Team & Operational Coordination Coordinate with the firm’s Billing Manager and related accounting support functions Support project managers and leadership with financial reporting and project accounting information Help maintain meticulously organized financial systems, records, and reporting proceduresParticipate in improving operational workflows and accounting processes as the firm continues to grow Qualifications 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably within architecture, engineering, design, or other professional services firms Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field Strong understanding of project-based accounting environments Experience with Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint strongly preferred Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented studio environment Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting Position Full-time, in-person position based in New York City What We Offer Health and Wellness: Medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, life insurance and employee assistance program.
