Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) Progressive Care / Telemetry – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Patient ratio 1:3. Orientation: 36 hours.

Highlights

• Work in a prestigious Magnet-designated academic medical center and Level I Trauma facility
• Provide specialized care in a 29-bed Progressive Care/IMC unit serving thoracic, cardiac, telemetry oncology, and post-transplant patient populations
• Collaborative interdisciplinary environment with strong nursing advocacy and professional autonomy
• Care for complex patient populations including cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant patients
• Epic charting system with comprehensive support services including IV teams, respiratory therapy, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Float between two IMC units providing acute medical/progressive care and thoracic specialty care

Requirements

• Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact State RN license
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years
• Required experience: PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Telemetry Oncology, Cardiac care
• Ventilator management and transplant care experience required
• Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Must successfully pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (strict passing criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall score)
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Core Skills & Competencies

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management including BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula
• Post-transplant care protocols and management
• Central line, PICC line, and arterial line management
• Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac systems)
• Titration of cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin protocols
• Blood product administration and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Care of patients with traumatic brain injury, CVA, spinal cord injury, and renal failure
• Advanced wound care including wound vac and skin grafts
