REVENUE CYCLE DIRECTOR Northeast Orthopaedic Alliance (NOA) | Supporting MBJI & SSO
Location: New Hampshire & Massachusetts
Employment Type: Full-Time | Exempt
Work Arrangement: Hybrid opportunity following onboarding and training
Travel: Up to 20% throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts
Salary Range: $80,000–$140,000 annually
Northeast Orthopaedic Alliance (NOA) is seeking an experienced and strategic Revenue Cycle Director to lead and strengthen revenue cycle operations across our growing organization.
Initially supporting our MBJI and SSO divisions, this highly visible leadership role will oversee the complete patient financial lifecycle—from charge capture and coding through billing, denials, accounts receivable, and collections.
Reporting directly to the NOA Chief Executive Officer and partnering closely with divisional leadership, Finance, Operations, physicians, and clinical teams, the Revenue Cycle Director will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on financial performance, operational efficiency, and the future scalability of NOA.
We're looking for a hands-on leader who can see the big picture while also diving into the details—someone who understands payer behavior, identifies revenue opportunities, solves complex problems, develops strong teams, and turns data into action.
What You'll Do Lead Revenue Cycle Operations- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the end-to-end revenue cycle, including charge capture, coding, billing, payment posting, denials, accounts receivable, patient collections, refunds, and bad debt.
- Develop and execute revenue cycle strategies that improve cash flow, reduce revenue leakage, and support organizational growth.
- Establish meaningful performance goals, productivity expectations, workflows, and accountability measures.
- Identify operational gaps and reimbursement opportunities and lead corrective action plans.
- Ensure accurate and timely charge capture and reimbursement across professional services, surgery, imaging, therapy, DME, injections, workers' compensation, and other ancillary services.
- Monitor coding quality, claim edits, modifier usage, global surgical rules, medical necessity, and documentation-related denials.
- Develop strategies to reduce avoidable denials and improve first-pass claim acceptance.
- Analyze payer performance, underpayments, reimbursement trends, and accounts receivable performance.
- Partner with Finance and leadership on cash forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis.
- Develop executive-level dashboards and reports that provide clear visibility into revenue cycle performance.
- Track key metrics including net collections, days in A/R, aging, denial rates, clean claim rates, charge lag, and patient collections.
- Translate complex financial and operational data into actionable recommendations for executive and divisional leadership.
- Lead, coach, and develop revenue cycle leaders and team members across supported divisions.
- Establish clear expectations around productivity, quality, accountability, and service.
- Support employee development through training, cross-training, succession planning, and performance management.
- Build consistent processes while recognizing legitimate differences between divisions, states, and payer requirements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and improve automation.
- Partner with IT, Compliance, Finance, Operations, and clinical leadership on system enhancements and organizational initiatives.
- Evaluate and manage internal and outsourced revenue cycle functions, vendors, and technology solutions.
- Help establish scalable revenue cycle standards to support the continued growth of NOA.
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; significant directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- At least seven years of progressive healthcare revenue cycle experience , including three or more years in a leadership role .
- Strong knowledge of professional billing, coding, denials, payer reimbursement, accounts receivable, patient collections, and revenue cycle analytics.
- Experience working with commercial payers, Medicare, Medicaid, MassHealth, New Hampshire Medicaid, workers' compensation, and other third-party payers.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial and operational data and turn insights into measurable action.
- Proven success leading teams, managing change, and influencing stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Strong proficiency with practice management systems, electronic health records, reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel.
- Revenue cycle leadership experience within an orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, surgical, or other high-volume specialty physician practice.
- Experience supporting multi-site, multi-entity, or multi-group healthcare organizations.
- Knowledge of orthopaedic surgery, imaging, therapy, DME, injections, global surgical billing, and workers' compensation.
- Experience with Athena or similar practice management systems.
- CPC, CPMA, CRCR, CHFP, HFMA, or other relevant revenue cycle, coding, compliance, or financial credentials.
- Experience managing outsourced billing, coding, or revenue cycle vendor relationships.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative leader with a strong sense of ownership and urgency. You are comfortable moving between executive-level strategy and day-to-day operational problem-solving. You know how to build trust with physicians and leaders, develop talented teams, and create accountability without losing sight of the patient experience.
You bring:
- Financial and operational accountability
- Strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Data-driven decision-making
- Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities
- A commitment to talent development
- Integrity, confidentiality, and a strong compliance mindset
- A continuous improvement mentality
This is an opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the future of revenue cycle operations for a growing, multi-division orthopaedic organization.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Lead meaningful operational and financial transformation.
- Partner directly with executive and divisional leadership.
- Build scalable processes and standards across multiple organizations.
- Develop and lead high-performing revenue cycle teams.
- Make a measurable impact on organizational performance and growth.
- Help shape the future infrastructure of a growing healthcare alliance.
This position offers a hybrid work opportunity following successful completion of onboarding and training. The Revenue Cycle Director must maintain a regular onsite presence based on organizational and divisional needs and should expect to travel up to 20% between NOA locations throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
