Field Service Technician - Vapor Albuquerque

Your Job John Zink is hiring a Field Service Technician in the Vapor group to support refining and petrochemical clients in the Albuquerque, NM region. In this role, you’ll travel to customer sites to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning on a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment—including PLCs, VFDs, and combustion systems—while ensuring safe work practices and accurate technical documentation. Frequent travel is required within your assigned region—up to 75%—with occasional travel across the United States. What You Will Do Travel from your home office to customer sites to perform preventative maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of pumps, motors, VFDs, positioners, valves, actuators, transmitters, combustion equipment, emissions monitoring equipment, digital recorders, and PLCs. Commission, troubleshoot, and modify control systems, including PLCs (primarily Allen‑Bradley and GE), PID loop controllers, VFDs, HMIs, and other control devices. Participate in an on‑call rotation to provide customer support as needed. Update technical documents and drawings (redlines) to reflect field modifications. Perform maintenance and inspections in confined spaces such as tanks, vaults, and crawl spaces. Follow all safety procedures for confined space entry, including the use of gas detection monitors and retrieval systems. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Experience modifying, diagnosing, and troubleshooting PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, GE, etc.). Working knowledge and application of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards. Experience reading and interpreting P&IDs, fabrication drawings, and electrical schematics. Willingness and ability to travel more than 75% of the time. Ability to obtain a TWIC within six (6) weeks of employment. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle. Physical Requirements Able to lift up to 50 lb on occasion and 25 lb routinely. Able to bend, stoop, crawl, climb and maneuver around equipment. Work in an outdoor environment with long workdays on occasion. Enter and exit confined spaces (crawling, climbing, or crouching). Work in tight or enclosed environments for extended periods. What Will Put You Ahead Field experience in petrochemical, power generation, renewable energy, pulp & paper, or food processing. Electrical journeyman license. Experience with industrial electrical and electronic equipment. Experience programming, calibrating, and configuring 4‑20 mA loop devices and instrumentation. Compensation We anticipate paying $35–$47 per hour, with eligibility for variable pay.
