IU Health is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant II to join our team in a unique administrative support role focused on FMLA and disability documentation management for Primary Care practices across the region.

This position is ideal for an experienced Medical Assistant who enjoys utilizing their clinical knowledge in an office-based environment. While this role does not involve direct patient care, candidates must possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, clinic operations, electronic medical records, and provider documentation.

Position Responsibilities

• Review patient medical records and clinical documentation.
• Compile and verify medications, diagnoses, surgical history, and other relevant clinical information.
• Complete FMLA, disability, and leave-of-absence paperwork.
• Prepare documentation for provider review and approval.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with documentation requirements.
• Manage multiple forms and documentation standards from various employers and organizations.
• Collaborate with clinic teams and providers to obtain necessary information.
• Always maintain confidentiality and data integrity.

Qualifications

Required

• Medical Assistant II qualification requirements.
• Previous Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records.
• Excellent organizational and computer skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a high-volume workload.

Preferred

• One or more years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Experience reviewing medical records and clinical documentation.
• Experience with disability, FMLA, or prior authorization paperwork.
• Primary care experience.
