Duties

• Engage with prospective clients to understand their financial needs and explain various mortgage options tailored to their goals.
• Use Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and financial software to process loan applications efficiently and accurately.
• Conduct credit analysis, income verification, and property evaluations to determine borrower eligibility while adhering to FNMA (Fannie Mae) guidelines and fair housing regulations.
• Negotiate terms with clients, real estate agents, and other stakeholders to secure favorable loan agreements that meet compliance standards such as TILA (Truth in Lending Act).
• Collaborate with underwriters, mortgage servicing teams, and escrow officers to ensure smooth loan processing from application through approval.
• Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge of mortgage regulations, banking compliance, and financial services best practices.
• Build strong relationships through exceptional customer service, clear communication, and ongoing client support throughout the loan lifecycle.
• Stay current on industry trends related to retail lending, commercial lending analysis, credit analysis, and risk management practices.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a loan officer or mortgage originator within the banking or financial services industry.
• Strong understanding of mortgage lending processes, underwriting procedures, and loan processing systems.
• Excellent negotiation skills paired with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly and effectively.
• Knowledge of fair housing laws, TILA regulations, FNMA standards, and compliance requirements for mortgage servicing.
• Proficiency in Mortgage Loan Systems (LOS), accounting software, escrow procedures, and basic math including 10-key typing skills.
• Ability to analyze credit reports, assess risk factors, and perform accurate credit analysis for both residential and commercial loans.
• Demonstrated relationship-building skills in financial sales environments with a focus on customer satisfaction.
• Familiarity with banking regulatory compliance standards related to retail lending and financial software tools.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in contract review, documentation management, and loan origination tasks.
