Provide L2‑L3 operational support for global Manufacturing Execution System (MES) infrastructure operating within OT‑controlled environments across North American and global manufacturing sites. This role is responsible for ensuring availability, performance, patching, backup/restore and disaster recovery of MES platform services while operating under strict IT‑OT separation, cybersecurity, and production uptime constraints. The position is not equivalent to a traditional manufacturing IT server administrator; MES environments directly support production execution, quality, traceability, and regulatory compliance. Failures, misconfigurations, or delayed responses can result in production stoppage, safety risk, or significant financial impact. Hard Skills Advanced Windows and Linux server administration in production‑critical environments Virtualization platforms VMware and/or Hyper‑V supporting high‑availability OT workloads Backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations for OT‑MES systems, image‑level and application‑aware Storage and performance monitoring for latency‑sensitive MES workloads Working knowledge of MES backend components (e.g., SQL Server, historians, reporting services) Scripting and automation (PowerShell and/or Bash) for operational consistency and rapid recovery Core OT‑adjacent infrastructure services Identity and access services (Active Directory in OT‑segmented domains) DNS, NTP, certificate services Endpoint security/EDR integration with servers (e.g., Trellio‑type platforms) Infrastructure monitoring and alerts (e.g., Nagios‑type systems) Network fundamentals sufficient to distinguish server vs. network failures Enterprise storage platforms (e.g., Unity‑class systems) Soft Skills Clear, calm communication with shop‑floor personnel, site leadership, and central OT‑IT teams Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis under time‑critical production pressure Ability to prioritize operational risk over convenience during incidents and maintenance windows Effective collaboration with vendors, integrators, OT security, and infrastructure teams Discipline in documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer to ensure repeatability and audit readiness Continuous‑improvement mindset focused on stability, resilience, and risk reduction Experience 8‑10 years of hands‑on server administration experience Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing MES or OT‑adjacent systems Proven track record operating systems where downtime has direct production and financial impact Experience working within change‑controlled, security‑governed environments Critical role distinctions—non‑negotiable: MES systems are production systems, not office IT services; recovery expectations are measured in minutes, not hours or days; changes must be coordinated with production schedules, validation requirements, and OT cybersecurity controls; tribal knowledge of site‑specific manufacturing behavior is essential and cannot be learned remotely or reactively; errors or delays can directly impact safety, quality, compliance, and revenue Location Availability Requirements Onsite presence in Minnetonka, Minnesota is mandatory and non‑negotiable Regular physical presence required to support plant operations, interface with manufacturing and engineering teams, and respond immediately to production‑impacting incidents Flexibility to support North American multisite operations, including off‑hours or extended coverage when production demands require it Remote or hybrid arrangements do not meet the operational requirements of this role Compensation and Benefits Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, performance, and internal equity.
