High School IT Support Technician AssistantThe IT Support Technician Apprentice provides technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, software, and networks, while completing a structured, multi-year apprenticeship program. This role serves as the first point of contact for users experiencing technical difficulties and is responsible for responding to queries, running diagnostics, isolating problems, and implementing solutions under the guidance of experienced IT staff. Apprentices gain hands-on exposure across a variety of settings, including corporate environments, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and managed service providers.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipate in structured learning experiences, including orientation, competency-based training, simulations, technology observations, and career development activitiesInstall, configure, and maintain computer equipment, mobile devices, and software for end usersService hardware components based on customer requirements and organizational standardsConfigure and troubleshoot networking equipment and connectionsApply basic cybersecurity practices to mitigate threats and protect organizational assetsDiagnose, resolve, and document common hardware and software issuesProvide customer support with professionalism and clear communicationManage user accounts, permissions, and access controlsImplement backup and recovery proceduresSupport virtualization and cloud-based technologiesMaintain accurate documentation and follow operational proceduresEngage positively with colleagues, clients, and end users while supporting the organization's mission and valuesQualificationsCurrent high school student entering the 11th gradeCommitment to complete a two year apprenticeship program through the end of 12th gradeEnrolled and in good academic and attendance standing at a local high schoolDemonstrated interest in pursuing an IT or technology related careerAbility to successfully complete all required orientation, training, and competency requirementsSuccessful completion of pre employment requirements, including background check and any required drug screeningStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated commitment to professionalism and teamworkExperience0 to 2 years of relevant experience preferredPrevious volunteer work, school based tech clubs or programs, or community service experience is beneficial but not requiredWhy Join IU Health?The High School IT Support Technician Assistant provides students with valuable real-world technology experience while supporting their academic and career goals.
