CNC Lathe Machinist (2nd Shift)

CNC Lathe MachinistThe CNC Lathe Machinist 2nd Shift will perform a variety of finish machining practices involved with turning, boring, drilling and threading while maintaining close tolerances on a wide variety of components from various industries. The ideal candidate needs to be fluent with Fanuc Controls. The candidate must be able to read and interpret drawings, work instructions, read and understand programs, all to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Must have basic hand & measuring tools, indicators, etc.Job Requirements and QualificationsAbility and willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.Ability and willingness to work in an environment of constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities.Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required.Ability and willingness to work around and use large propane / acetylene torches.Ability to operate small lifts, pallet jacks and other lifting equipment (training will be provided on our specific equipment, but basic skills are required beforehand).Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Basic verbal and written communication skills.Patience, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.Basic computer and math skills.Ability to work within a team.Must be able to read and understand Blueprints and G-CodeMust be familiar with basic machining practices involved in turning, milling, drilling, threading operations.Must be competent reading drawings and following instructions necessary to produce usable and saleable parts.Must be able to hold tolerances as dictated by drawings, written instructions, or industry standards.Must be proficient with the use of, the care of, and the calibration of all types of measuring devices (i.e., micrometers [OD and ID], dial calipers, dial indicators, etc.).Must possess and provide basic tools required for the execution of the position of manual machinist.Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence.Responsible for understanding and complying with the safety policy, procedures, and instructions.Maintaining a clean and organized work areaMust be able to read and understand Blueprints and G-CodeMonitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues.Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.The above list of activities is not all-inclusive but a general representation of the requirements of the CNC Machinist. This above list is subject to change based on the needs of the company.Required Experience & QualificationsEducation:Highschool Diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution.Associates Degree – Machine Trade preferred but not required.Knowledge and/or Skill Requirements:Basic machining knowledge and practices required.Other InformationThe position will be based full time in our Bethlehem, PA facility.This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40+ hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends maybe required based on business need.Position will have a 60-day probation period. At the end of the probation period, the machinist will be reviewed to determine competency of work performance and compliance with established company safety directives.Position will be compensated on an hourly basis, with bi-weekly pay periods.Able to understand, read, write, and speak English proficiently in order to communicate with shop supervision and safety directives.Authorized to work in the United States.Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, physical performance evaluation and background check.RMS Inc. may have government contracts that impose specific requirements on employees working on those projects. If an employee does not meet these requirements, they may be reassigned to a different location or be ineligible to work on certain assignments.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to stand and walk for significant portions of the shift.Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs., walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance.Ability to walk, climb, reach above head, and balance.Must be able to use hands for assembly and tool usage.Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise and metal particles.What We OfferCompetitive Pay - Our target salary range for this role is between $35-$45 hourly.
