Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support a non-profit organization through a long-term contract opportunity. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail who can manage high-volume payroll operations, maintain accurate financial records, and work closely with internal teams and external partners. The position focuses on timely payroll processing, compliance reporting, reconciliations, and employee support while helping ensure smooth day-to-day payroll and accounting activities.Responsibilities:• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population, ensuring payroll is reviewed, finalized, and submitted accurately and on schedule.• Enter and update payroll-related changes, including deductions, garnishments, and off-cycle payments, while maintaining compliance with applicable requirements.• Produce recurring payroll registers, reconciliations, audit support documents, and accounting entries tied to payroll activity.• Complete quarterly and year-end payroll reporting tasks and assist with the preparation and distribution of tax forms such as W-2s and 1099s.• Monitor employee leave and benefit accrual balances, communicate important payroll deadlines, and review benefit-related payroll charges for accuracy.• Research payroll discrepancies, respond to employee questions, and resolve issues in coordination with Human Resources and third-party payroll providers.• Perform bank reconciliations and support invoice review, coding, and payment processing related to payroll and benefits administration.• Provide guidance to staff on timekeeping procedures and maintain organized payroll files, records, and supporting documentation.
