Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in dedicated ASD or Therapeutic classroom settings. Explore the possibilities in an ASD Program classroom, focusing on creating a nurturing environment for students on the autism spectrum, or join a Therapeutic Program class, supporting elementary students with behavioral and therapeutic needs in a small-group setting. Both roles offer a structured and consistent caseload, with no toileting or lifting responsibilities required.
Key Experience & Certification Criteria:
- Current Michigan SPED Certification required
- Familiarity with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) populations preferred for ASD classrooms
- Background working with therapeutic or behavioral classrooms preferred for therapeutic settings
- Experience supporting elementary-aged students
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Use creative and adaptive strategies to engage students in academic and social learning
- Partner with paraprofessionals and specialists to maximize support for each child
- Foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Track and communicate student progress, adjusting approaches as needed
