About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead its mission of protecting freshwater resources and advocating for the public's right to clean, accessible water. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic leadership, organizational focus, and translating goals into actionable plans. This role requires a leader with a strong background in nonprofit or advocacy settings, a deep commitment to freshwater protection, and the ability to engage with legal and policy issues. The Executive Director will also be tasked with people leadership, fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration, and strengthening the organization's internal and external relationships. Key responsibilities for the Executive Director include providing legal, policy, and advocacy leadership, overseeing fundraising and external relationships, and ensuring the organization's financial health and operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising, a solid understanding of public trust principles, and the ability to lead a team through transition and growth. They should be adept at communicating complex issues in a clear and compelling manner and be grounded in a people-centered, emotionally intelligent leadership style. The role demands a steady, collaborative leader who can honor the organization's history while driving its mission forward and expanding its impact across the Great Lakes region.
