Robert Half is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization to identify an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager . This is a direct-hire opportunity for a player-coach who enjoys rolling up their sleeves while also leading and developing a small accounting team. The ideal candidate brings strong nonprofit accounting expertise along with the ability to improve processes and support organizational growth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Manage and participate in fund and grant accounting, ensuring compliance with donor and regulatory requirements
• Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, and variance analyses for leadership
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while remaining actively involved in transactional work
• Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors
• Strengthen internal controls, streamline processes, and support system improvements
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit-specific accounting standards

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

• At least 5 years of accounting experience, including work in nonprofit organizations or a similar regulated environment.

• Demonstrated knowledge of month-end close, general ledger management, and preparation of financial statements.

• Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and fixed asset accounting.

• Familiarity with grant accounting, restricted funds, and nonprofit compliance requirements, including single audit support.

• Strong understanding of audit preparation, financial reporting standards, and internal control practices.

• Ability to communicate financial guidance clearly and collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple departments.
