Onsite, Full-Time, Direct Hire

$75K to $85K DOE per year, along with comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, etc.

LHH is working with a reputable law firm to identify an experienced Client Payment Specialist to join its Los Angeles office. This is a full-time, onsite role supporting the firm's Finance and Collections teams, with a strong focus on accurate cash application, trust accounting compliance, and daily reconciliation.

The Client Payment Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the timely posting of client payments and compliant handling of trust transactions. This position requires hands-on experience in a law firm accounting environment, proficiency with Aderant or similar systems, and a strong understanding of IOLTA and trust accounting rules.

Responsibilities

• Record and apply daily client payments, including wires, ACH, checks, and credit card transactions
• Accurately allocate payments to client matters and appropriate general ledger accounts
• Manage trust account activity, including deposits, disbursements, and transfers, in compliance with IOLTA and trust accounting rules
• Perform daily cash reconciliations and partner with Accounts Payable to resolve variances
• Communicate with clients regarding payment details, timing, and clarification as needed
• Investigate and resolve cash application and trust-related discrepancies
• Maintain supporting documentation for internal controls, audits, and financial close processes
• Coordinate with Billing, Collections, and Accounting teams to ensure consistent financial workflows
• Follow firm policies and regulatory standards related to cash handling and trust administration

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 3+ years of law firm accounting experience required
• Hands-on experience with Aderant, Elite (Enterprise or 3E), or comparable legal accounting systems
• Working knowledge of trust accounting and IOLTA compliance
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume financial environments
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet daily deadlines
• Professional communication skills, including direct client interaction
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
• Experience supporting daily reconciliations and cash application workflows
• Familiarity with law firm billing structures and matter-based accounting
• Dependable, punctual, and flexible to support time-sensitive business needs
