Sr Lead Software Engineer - Java, AI/ML

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal software engineering training or certification, with 5+ years of applied experience
• Strong proficiency in Java or Python for building software systems, with solid knowledge of engineering best practices, system architecture, application development, testing, and operational resilience
• Experience integrating AI/ML methods into software solutions, including LLMs, Generative AI, NLP, RAG, AI evaluations, and coding assistants
• Practical, hands-on experience across system design, application development, testing, and production stability
• Advanced programming ability in Java and/or Python
• Demonstrated experience leading the use of enterprise-approved AI-assisted development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration, and troubleshooting, with clear standards for validating correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI practices in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency/security expectations
• Experience coaching senior engineers and leads on compliant usage patterns and control measures
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and practical machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-Learn
• Ability to solve design and functionality challenges independently with little to no oversight
• Familiarity with agentic workflows and frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, and Auto-GPT
• Preferred: experience working directly at code level with advanced AI/ML business applications, such as LLMs, Generative AI, and NLP
• Preferred: AWS certifications such as Solution Architect Associate or Professional
• Preferred: in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems

• Provide technical direction and guidance to support business teams, contractors, and vendors
• Develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others
• Lead a local team of software engineers and applied AI/ML practitioners, fostering accountability and engagement within a global organization
• Promote adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes
• Establish measurable validation standards such as secure coding, peer review, and automated testing
• Encourage reuse of proven patterns and automation across the SDLC/TLM toolchain
• Architect, design, and develop secure, high-quality production software systems using Java or Python, integrating AI/ML techniques such as LLMs, Generative AI, and coding assistants
• Use SDLC toolchain capabilities, including approved AI-assisted development and automation tools, to increase the value delivered through automation at scale
• Design experiments, implement algorithms, validate outcomes, and productionize performant, scalable, and trustworthy AI/ML solutions
