About the Opportunity

We are partnering with an established manufacturer of highly engineered HVAC and thermal management equipment seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its engineering team.

This is a hands-on product engineering position supporting both standard and highly customized equipment. The engineer will be responsible for developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, power/control routing, component selections, and supporting documentation, while working closely with manufacturing to ensure designs translate effectively from engineering into production.

This is not a traditional PLC/Controls Engineer position. The primary focus is the electrical design and integration of physical HVAC equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical power and control systems for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings, and electrical panel layouts.
• Design electrical solutions for both standard products and custom/Engineer-to-Order equipment.
• Develop electrical designs using SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar electrical CAD platforms.
• Review customer specifications, technical drawings, sequences of operation, and project requirements to develop appropriate electrical designs.
• Perform electrical calculations including MCA, MOCP, SCCR, and wire sizing.
• Select electrical components including motors, VFDs/ECMs, contactors, transformers, disconnects, and protective devices.
• Develop electrical Bills of Materials and complete engineering drawing packages and submittal documentation.
• Work directly with manufacturing and technicians during fabrication, testing, and equipment builds to troubleshoot electrical issues and provide engineering support.
• Incorporate manufacturing feedback, redlines, and as-built changes into electrical drawings and documentation.
• Collaborate with mechanical and controls engineers to ensure electrical panels, sensors, wiring, and other components integrate properly within the overall equipment design.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing designs for manufacturability, reliability, cost, and ease of assembly.
• Support electrical troubleshooting both during production and, when necessary, in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is the requirement stated in the internal JD.
• Approximately 2–5 years of electrical design experience within equipment or product manufacturing preferred.
• Strong understanding of AC/DC power and control circuits.
• Experience creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of motors, VFDs, ECMs, transformers, contactors, disconnects, and electrical protection devices.
• Experience with SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or comparable electrical design software.
• Ability to read and interpret customer drawings, specifications, system schematics, and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of PLCs is beneficial, but this is not primarily a PLC programming position. The internal JD lists PLC knowledge as a working knowledge requirement rather than the core function of the role.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work directly with manufacturing personnel to resolve issues.

• NEC/NFPA 70
• UL 508A
• UL 1995 / UL 60335-2-40

An EIT certification or successful completion of the FE exam is preferred, but not listed as required.

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who enjoys being involved beyond simply producing drawings. The right engineer will be comfortable taking a project from customer requirements through electrical design, schematics, component selection, documentation, manufacturing, testing, troubleshooting, and final production updates. xhyhwjd

Someone who has worked on custom HVAC, industrial equipment, or other complex electromechanical products where every project may require a slightly different electrical solution should translate particularly well to this environment.
