Experience required. Previous deck experience greatly preferred. You don't need to be a master carpenter but you need to know how to use basic tools like saws and drills, have a tool belt, know how to read a tape measure etc.
you need to know what 16 oc means
You need to know joist, girder, beam, post, ribbon, box, rim, ledger, hex bolt, Carriage bolt, layout, stringer, blocking, bridging, hanger, footer, flashing, dimension, plane, level, plumb.
