Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team. The role involves providing high-quality nursing care and support to residents in a skilled nursing home environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong nursing background with a focus on geriatric care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to residents, including medication administration and assessments.
• Monitor vital signs, including blood pressure and blood glucose levels.
• Administer various treatments and manage medical devices such as Foley catheters and feeding tubes.
• Conduct assessments for bowel sounds and manage bowel care.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient care and adherence to care plans.
• Input and manage patient information using PointClickCare.
• Implement infection control protocols and safety measures as per national patient safety goals.
• Assist in the management of residents with chronic conditions, including diabetes and respiratory issues.
• Participate in end-of-life care and support for residents and their families.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with skilled nursing or rehabilitation experience preferred.
• Experience as a first-time traveler is acceptable, provided you have relevant skilled experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Previous experience with PointClickCare is required.
• Experience in Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) settings is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in skilled rehabilitation centers, memory care, and managing complex conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
• Familiarity with various advanced nursing procedures including central line care, tracheostomy care, and wound management.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and team members.
• Background in community hospital settings is preferred.
• Previous charge nurse experience and experience in teaching hospitals is advantageous.

Shifts and Scheduling

This position offers 36 hours of night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, with an expected staffing ratio of 1:40 during night shifts. Weekend work is required every other weekend. No float or call requirements are associated with this position. A 24-hour unit orientation is part of the onboarding process.

Patient Demographics

The patient population primarily includes geriatric residents, with an average daily census of 36 in a 40-bed unit.

Scrubs

Navy blue scrubs are required for this position.
