Job Overview The Hoxworth Blood Center, Division of Transplantation Immunology, seeks a motivated individual to conduct clinical laboratory testing as a full‑time (100% FTE) Clinical Lab Scientist 1. The ideal candidate has a background in immunology, is a critical thinker with excellent communication skills, and can work independently. Experience in flow cytometry and molecular DNA testing is preferred. The position will receive training on first shift, then be assigned to the third shift after training (Wednesday through Saturday, 10‑hour shifts, 7:00 pm–5:30 am). Essential Functions Perform testing, interpret, and record results. Perform quality control and proficiency testing. Comply with cGMP requirements regarding test interpretation and validity of results. Communicate and report test results to external customers and internal stakeholders. Respond to other healthcare professionals’ questions regarding results. Clerically process incoming patient blood samples and compose written case reports for hospital patient referrals, when appropriate. Prepare laboratory reagents; develop and perform reagent evaluation studies and other special projects with supervisory review. Quarantine and discard blood products with positive test results, when appropriate. Maintain equipment and keep a clean, safe work area. Assume on‑call responsibilities as required. Required Education Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or another related biological science. Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training may be used in lieu of the education requirement. Required Trainings / Certifications Some laboratories require MLT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(ASCP), BB(ASCP), or SBB(ASCP).
