This role is integral to a respected school program serving students in the vibrant Poughkeepsie, NY area, just a short distance from Newburgh. As a PT in this setting, you will play a pivotal part in helping students achieve their physical development goals, working alongside educators and other health professionals to ensure every student can access their education to the fullest.
Key Experience and Skills:
- Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New York State
- Prior experience providing PT services in school-based or pediatric settings strongly preferred
- Proficiency in assessing and developing individualized treatment and intervention plans for students
- Clear communication skills for collaboration with teachers, staff, and families
- Comfortable working across various grade levels, adapting strategies to each student's unique needs
- Familiarity with required documentation and IEP processes within school programs
- Flexibility and resourcefulness to support individual and group therapy sessions
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Delivering evidence-based physical therapy services to students as outlined in their IEPs
- Conducting evaluations and progress assessments, documenting results accurately
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to design and adjust student plans
- Educating school staff and families on strategies to support student mobility and participation
- Promoting a positive, inclusive environment that enhances learning opportunities
- Staying current with best practices in pediatric and school-based therapy
