Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM–5:30 PM or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join a small, friendly accounting team in Beltsville, MD. This position is Accounts Receivable focused and is ideal for someone who is comfortable working with high-volume transactions, Excel, and accounting software.
The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for processing a high volume of invoices, applying payments, handling receipts, researching discrepancies, and maintaining accurate financial records. The successful candidate will be highly organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a small-office environment.
Responsibilities
Process approximately 100 invoices per day / 2,000 invoices per month
Handle daily Accounts Receivable activities
Enter and maintain financial data accurately
Process and reconcile payments, cash, and receipts
Follow up on missed and outstanding payments
Research and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies
Identify and investigate exceptions and unusual transactions
Import and export financial data
Use Excel for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting
Perform high-volume data entry
Assist with additional accounting duties as needed
Qualifications
Previous Accounts Receivable or accounting experience
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Proficiency with VLOOKUP, SUMIFS , and similar Excel functions
Experience importing and exporting data
Experience with SAGE or MAS90 preferred
Strong data entry and reconciliation skills
Excellent attention to detail
