About the Position

Traveler experience accepted. Charge nurse experience preferred for night travelers. Must be able to work holidays. Ability to care for COVID patients possible. Must be able to work during inclement weather. Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in medical surgical care. The nurse will be responsible for providing care to adult and geriatric patients. Daily patient census is approximately 43. The target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. The nurse may have responsibilities that include heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high flow oxygen administration. The position may entail limited short-term BiPAP with respiratory support. No additional training is needed for these procedures. The unit does not manage PCU level patients. The unit employs the use of a medication and documentation system. All nursing staff are required to attend unit team meetings each month. Meetings are scheduled for the 4th Wednesday of each month from January to October, and the 3rd Wednesday in November and December. Additional meetings for night shift staff will be conducted on the Friday following the Wednesday meetings. All staff must adhere to call-off policies. Candidates must be prepared to report to work during a catastrophic event or disaster. This role requires a teamwork approach and adherence to behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff. Floater assignments may occur within similar units as per job requirements. Travel pairs are allowed but must be disclosed. All requirements must be pre-approved, including time off requests. Candidate must complete testing as part of pre-employment processes. Pre-start modules will be completed online. Candidates must use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge as their browser for online modules. This environment fosters collaboration among interdisciplinary support teams.
