Legal Billing Specialist

Job Summary The Billing Specialist is responsible for the accurate and efficient preparation of bills and invoices for multiple Billing Attorneys. Candidate should be detail-oriented, an analytical person, good with people and numbers and able to easily move from one task to another. Be flexible to work overtime as needed. Key Responsibilities Responsible for the accurate and efficient preparation of monthly pre-bills and client invoices in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures monthly billing schedules remain on schedule. Reviews and edits pre-bills in response to Attorney and Staff requests. Responds to inquiries related to billing, bills research, and assists in resolving complex billing issues. Utilizes accounting software programs (ProLaw, Excel, Word). Undertakes special projects and ad hoc reports for manager as needed/requested. Proactive in seeking innovative ways to help others. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Bookkeeping or Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 3+ years prior experience as a Biller preferably with a law firm. ProLaw or other legal software experience helpful; collection experience a plus. Proficient with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required. Understanding of standard accounting practices and procedures. High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to manage time effectively. Exceptional analytical skills. Excellent communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation. Must be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
