Sports Performance Coordinator (Athletic Trainer) SY26-27 Washington, D.C. Position Overview: DCI is hiring a full‑time Sports Performance Coordinator (Athletic Trainer). This position will oversee the overall management of DCI’s Athletic Program with a particular emphasis on injury prevention and rehabilitation of student athletes in grades 6‑12. The coordinator will report to the Senior Director for Student Life. Salary Range: $63,113 – $103,515 (starting salary determined by education and years of relevant experience) Work Schedule: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday‑Friday; nights, weekends, and school breaks as needed based on the athletic schedule. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree is required. A Master’s Degree in secondary education or in this content area is preferred. Athletic Training License Good communication skills with parents and staff Current professional certification from an independent accreditation agency (e.g., NSCA CSCS) Current first aid, CPR, and AED certifications Proficiency with multiple technology platforms, including G‑Suite tools such as Gmail Strong written and oral communication skills Clear background check Key Qualities & Skills: Coordinate and organize daily Athletic Trainer functions with the Senior Director for Student Life and coaches of all teams Complete all district reporting requirements Review student physicals and releases to ensure authenticity Maintain professional, clinical, technical, communication, and documentation standards in line with National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) guidelines Develop training plans based on scientific principles, supervise sessions, evaluate athletes, maintain records, and oversee strength and conditioning Meet regularly with sport coaches to determine athlete needs during rehabilitation Maintain the strength and conditioning facility, establishing policies, plans, and procedures for safe operation Job Duties & Responsibilities: Design and implement policies and procedures for the Athletic Training and Strength and Conditioning program per Professional Standards Guidelines Provide prevention, emergency care, first aid, evaluation, and rehabilitation of injuries to athletes under care Deliver emergency care and first aid, including equipment availability, communication procedures, and prompt triage Evaluate acute and chronic injuries, refer out when appropriate, and determine when athletes may return to competition Assist in injury prevention through education, risk assessment, corrective measures, taping, and bracing Treat athletic injuries with protection, rest, ice, compression, evaluation, support, hydrotherapy, and modalities as needed Cover team practices and sporting events as scheduled with the Assistant Athletic Director Maintain accurate and complete student documentation per law, district policy, and regulations Maintain records including injury reports, home‑care instructions, referrals, treatment records, rehab progress notes, and insurance information Ensure confidentiality and secure training room and weight room equipment and supplies Develop, supervise, evaluate, and modify exercise programs for rehabilitation to restore pre‑injury status Design and instruct curricular strength and conditioning classes as needed Coordinate a co‑curricular novice level program for grades 6‑8 offering strength and conditioning introduction based on research‑driven practices Supervise and coordinate the strength and conditioning club as a school‑to‑career exposure and liaison opportunity Design and implement season‑specific strength and conditioning programs for all school‑sanctioned male and female teams Create a positive learning environment that promotes high achievement for all students, considering individual backgrounds and developmental levels Serve as a liaison between athletes, their parents, and coaching staff Prepare and maintain various reports, correspondence, and notices Collaborate with school personnel to develop school‑wide initiatives that improve safety and effectiveness Conduct an annual needs‑analysis for each sport team with the sport coach after each season Annually review and update the departmental risk management plan Prepare an annual budgetary proposal covering maintenance, equipment purchases, and staffing needs Conduct annual evaluation of departmental staff and design professional development activities Perform other duties as assigned Faculty and Staff Development/Benefits: DCI is committed to servant leadership and to providing faculty and staff with resources and training for an excellent educational experience for every student and family.
