Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Summary Join a dedicated team as a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role is situated within an acute care hospital setting, providing specialized care to expectant mothers, laboring patients, and new families. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, assisting through all stages of labor and delivery, and providing comprehensive postpartum and newborn care. Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to laboring, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients. Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rate, and uterine contractions, interpreting and responding to changes appropriately. Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and deliveries, including C-sections. Administer medications safely and accurately, including epidural management and pain relief. Educate patients and families on labor progression, pain management, newborn care, and postpartum recovery. Perform newborn assessments and provide initial care, including resuscitation when necessary. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities. Collaborate effectively with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other healthcare professionals. Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Minimum of 1-2 years of recent, acute care experience in Labor & Delivery. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems specific to obstetrics. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in fetal monitoring interpretation (NST, CST, FHR patterns). Expertise in labor support techniques and pain management strategies. Competence in IV insertion, medication administration, and emergency obstetric procedures. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in high-stress situations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated empathy and compassion for patients and families.
