Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine Department: Veterinary Technicians Employment Type: Full Time Location: Dunwoody, Georgia Description Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency – Dunwoody, Georgia (4500 N Shallowford Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338) is opening its second specialty and emergency hospital in October 2026. We are building an Internal Medicine team and seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs), Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs), and highly skilled Veterinary Assistants with background in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Specialty Medicine, or high‑volume General Practice. Selected candidates will begin onboarding with our Marietta team in August–September 2026 before transitioning to the new facility. Future opportunities within the hospital include: Surgery Anesthesia Neurology Oncology Cardiology Dermatology Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology) Emergency and Critical Care What You'll Do As a Veterinary Technician – Internal Medicine, you will support advanced diagnostics, patient care, client communication, and ongoing disease management. Assist with Internal Medicine consultations and patient assessments. Support patients with chronic and complex medical conditions, including endocrine, gastrointestinal, liver, kidney, immune‑mediated, respiratory, and infectious diseases. Obtain detailed patient histories and monitor hospitalized patients. Administer medications and treatments as directed. Collect blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples and perform venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement. Assist with advanced diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound support, endoscopy preparation and recovery, fine‑needle aspirates, biopsy assistance, and fluid collection. Prepare patients for diagnostics and treatments, coordinate laboratory submissions, and maintain accurate medical records. Educate clients on treatment plans, diagnostic recommendations, medication administration, chronic disease management, and home‑care instructions. Collaborate with Emergency and Critical Care teams, assist in stabilization and transfer of complex patients, and participate in patient rounds and case discussions. Maintain proper handling of medications and equipment, keep treatment areas clean, and follow hospital protocols and safety standards. Who We're Looking For Physical and technical requirements: Stand and walk for extended periods; frequently bend, kneel, crouch, and reach. Lift and carry patients and equipment up to 50 pounds. Safely restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments. Perform repetitive tasks involving hands, wrists, and arms. Work in a veterinary hospital environment with exposure to animal dander, fur, cleaning products, medical chemicals, biological materials, vaccines, medications, and fragrances. Maintain visual acuity suitable for patient monitoring, laboratory work, and documentation. Minimum qualifications: 1–2 years of veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience. Experience in specialty practice, emergency medicine, urgent care, internal medicine, or high‑volume general practice. Strong veterinary nursing and patient care skills. Proficiency with venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, sample collection, hospitalized patient monitoring, and client communication. Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT). RECOVER CPR Certification. Advanced laboratory and diagnostic experience.
