Scientist, Oral Formulation Sciences (On-site)

Merck seeks a scientist to develop oral formulations for new chemical entities from initial studies through market definition. The role involves designing solid drug products, executing laboratory experiments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in non-GMP and GMP manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop solid oral drug products applying scientific principles in laboratory and pilot plant settings
• Lead manufacturing operations in both non-GMP and GMP environments
• Execute experiments independently and interpret data to support formulation development
• Troubleshoot equipment and manufacturing processes to ensure robustness
• Manage individual deliverables within project timelines with minimal supervision

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline
• Minimum 2 years pharmaceutical industry or related field experience
• Independent capability to learn and apply scientific principles to formulation development
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, statistical software (JMP, Minitab), and numerical analysis software (Matlab)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to conduct data analysis and interpret experimental results independently
