This is an On-Call position , and shifts are available on an as-needed basis (call-outs, scheduled vacations, special events, etc.)

Employment Type: On-Call; Non-Exempt

Salary: $18.48/Hour + $5.42/Hour Health & Welfare Pay* - Total $23.90/Hour

Location: U.S. Coast Guard Base Los Angeles/Long Beach - San Pedro, CA, 90731

Schedule/Hours of Work:
•On-Call - Shifts are variable depending on need (sick/vacation coverage), plus once a month on weekends – Flexibility is required
•Availability on short notice is desired (2 hours before shift start)
• Work hours are: Mon-Fri 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
•Occasional work outside of normal business hours due to special events or circumstances, including weekends and holidays

TSG is looking for an On-Call Galley Food Service Attendant to join our team. In this role, you will work as a backup attendant providing additional coverage and support as needed to our Food Service team. Our Galley Food Service Attendants support U.S. Coast Guard Base Los Angeles/Long Beach dining facility food service operations, ensuring personnel receive high-quality, nutritious meals in a clean and efficient environment. This role consists of assisting with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup while working as part of a team in a fast-paced, mission-driven setting.

Job Duties:

Note: Duties/Work stations are rotated and can vary by day or Galley needs.

Food Preparation: Wash, clean, peel, core, slice, and assemble raw fruits and vegetables for salad bars

Food Servicing:
-Pre-Meal setup and service throughout meal periods, of dining area, serving lines, and salad bars
-Transport all food from production or storage areas to serving lines
-Replenish all foods and condiments on serving line, salad bar, and dessert case
-Load and refill beverage dispensers, fill soda machine ice dispenser, brew coffee
-Package take-out foods and/or serve food to customers
-Buss tables and remove trash

Post-Meal Service:
-Remove leftover food from the serving lines
-Clean and reset tables and change tablecloths as needed
-Completely clean and sanitize all dining room surfaces, work areas, and equipment
-Thoroughly wash and sanitize dishes, silverware, roasting pans, baking pans, steam table inserts, and cooking utensils after each use
-Clean the broiler grill and ventilation hood
-Sweep, scrub, damp mop, and dry floors
-Trash removal and transport to designated disposal areas; clean garbage containers

Cashier:
-Responsible for the collection, accounting, and safeguarding of monies from the sale of meals during meal times.

Physical Requirements:

• Standing for extended periods of time (2.5-3.5 hours a shift)
• Frequent walking throughout the facility
• The ability to push and pull equipment and supply carts, trash bins, etc.
• The ability to bend, crouch, twist, turn, carry, and reach above and below
• Capable of repetitive hand, wrist, and/or elbow motions
• Lifting and lowering up to 50 pounds

Work Environment: This position operates in a commercial kitchen (galley) environment that may include exposure to heat, noise, and fast-paced conditions.

Qualifications:
-Prior food attendance experience preferred but not required.
-Familiarity with military or institutional food service operations preferred
-Familiarity with food service sanitation and food service standards.
-Basic math skills, able to handle cash, and give exact change.
-The ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
