Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join a collaborative team of 7–9 finance professionals within a local government setting. This role serves as a primary backup to the accounting staff while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local grant requirements. Hands-on training will be provided by the Controller and Senior Accountant to help you get up to speed quickly. Additional Areas of Responsibility: Major Duties Grant Accounting & Compliance: Review financial status reports from grant administrators, maintain grant files, monitor project statuses, and assist with meeting grantor requirements. AR & Financial Reporting: Coordinate with Accounts Receivable for grantor billings, prepare journal entries, and ensure accurate, timely preparation and submission of all required fiscal reports. Reconciliation: Reconcile revenues and expenditures using fund accounting principles. Other Information/Requirements: What Are We Looking For? Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of entry-level accounting experience. Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Working knowledge of Workday, spreadsheets, and Excel pivot tables. Preferred Experience: Background in grant accounting or fund accounting.
