Mechanical InsulatorJOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Project Manager, Mechanical Insulators will install and replace insulation materials to pipes, duct work, or other mechanical systems to help control and maintain temperature in buildings.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Selects, measures and cuts materials needed for covering pipe and duct surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissorsRemoves old insulation and disposes of it properlyEffectively and politely communicates with other trades and customers to accomplish the scope of work assignedRead blueprints and specifications to determine job requirementsComplies with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work areaPromote safe workplace by participating in safety training, identifying job hazards, wearing correct PPE, and observing for oneself and othersCompletes tasks such as loading, un-loading, cleaning, sweeping, and sometimes paintingConducts physical and accurate count of scaffolding, inventory, fittings, etc.Writes inventory descriptions and quantities removed from warehouse inventory for use on jobsOrganizes inventory / equipment in effective mannerOther duties as assignedRequirements:2-5 Years mechanical insulation experience, preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent, preferredPossess a valid driver's license, insurance and/ or reliable transportationTravel as needed for out-of-town workBasic math skillsKnowledge of basic tools and their applicationsAbility and willingness to work long and irregular hoursPHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to maintain a high degree of attention to prevent injury to self and othersMust be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 50lbs regularlyMust be able to safely climb and work from heights including ladders, scaffolding, and work from liftsAbility to perform physically demanding work for 8+ hours a day, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, twisting, and work in confined spaces.Ability to work at above ground elevations while wearing a harness and other protective equipmentWork in and outdoors, will be exposed to heat, cold and humidity
