Civil Litigation Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks a motivated attorney to join its Toledo, OH office as part of the General Liability and Transportation practice groups. This role offers an opportunity to work with a team of skilled trial attorneys in a collaborative environment. Duties Represent clients in all phases of civil litigation from inception through trial and appeal. Handle transportation and trucking defense matters, including motor carrier liability and FMCSA compliance issues. Manage general litigation matters such as premises liability, products liability, and commercial disputes. Conduct depositions, argue motions, and appear at hearings and mediations. Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and trial documents. Develop case strategy and provide clients with practical, cost-effective counsel. Participate in business development activities and maintain client relationships. Requirements Minimum of 3-5 years of civil litigation experience in state and federal courts. License to practice in both Michigan and Ohio is a plus. Experience in conducting discovery, taking and defending depositions, and motion practice preferred. Excellent research and writing skills. Demonstrated work ethic and commitment to excellence. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications License to practice law in Michigan (required). Skills Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously.
