Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to join a high-performing team supporting a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Hillsboro, Oregon. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the expansion and optimization of a state-of-the-art production environment while working alongside engineers, project coordinators, construction professionals, equipment owners, and manufacturing stakeholders.

In this role, you will develop detailed mechanical design packages, create and maintain as-built documentation, and perform field verification activities to support facility improvements and new equipment installations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys a combination of office and field work, and has extensive experience with industrial process systems and mechanical design software.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed mechanical design packages using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Create accurate as-built piping and equipment layouts for record drawings.
• Perform regular field walks to verify existing conditions and validate design implementation.
• Coordinate closely with project engineers, engineering coordinators, project coordinators, construction trades, and other multidisciplinary team members.
• Produce comprehensive 2D and 3D drawing packages that comply with site design standards.
• Verify, update, and draft:
  • Mechanical and chemical piping layouts
  • Equipment layouts
  • Piping schedules
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Develop piping plans including:
  • Pipe routing
  • Valve locations
  • Instrument locations
  • Equipment arrangements
• Prepare hook-up drawings for tool installation packages.
• Produce flow diagrams for gas-side and water-side utility systems, including HVAC, hydronics, and fire protection systems.
• Create isometric drawings to support field installation and construction activities.
• Develop custom installation details for complex mechanical systems.
• Conduct punch-list inspections to verify installations meet design intent.
• Support design changes, cost reduction initiatives, and manufacturability improvements.
• Review vendor submittals and provide drafting support for engineered systems such as tanks and vessels.
• Assist with Requests for Information (RFIs) and construction submittals during project execution.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with other engineering disciplines and resolve design conflicts.
• Participate in design review meetings with project teams, stakeholders, equipment manufacturers, and contractors.
• Prepare project deliverables including:
  • Models
  • Plans
  • Sections
  • Details
  • Equipment arrangement drawings
  • Flow diagrams
  • P&IDs
• Review project specifications and ensure all deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, and quality expectations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior designers when needed.
• Assist leadership with task planning, work estimates, and project scheduling.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of progressive mechanical CAD drafting and design experience with industrial process systems.
• Experience designing building mechanical systems in semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or other high-tech industrial facilities.
• Advanced proficiency with:
  • Revit
  • AutoCAD
• Extensive experience reviewing models in Navisworks.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Process piping systems
  • Mechanical utility systems
  • HVAC
  • Hydronics
  • Fire protection systems
  • P&IDs
• Experience producing installation packages, equipment layouts, and detailed mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
• Ability to lead wet-side or dry-side mechanical design efforts on major projects.
• Strong communication and coordination skills in multidisciplinary project environments.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience conducting field verification and construction support activities.
