Area Manager Orthodontic Operations

TEN Coaching and Advisory has been retained by our client, Brite Orthodontics, to help find a talented Area Manager for their Orthodontic Operations! Market: Bronx and Southern Westchester, New York Location: Field-based with regular travel among assigned Brite Orthodontics offices Compensation: $75,000–$80,000 annually, plus performance-based bonus Position Summary At Brite Orthodontics, we believe every smile is unique and deserves personalized care by going above and beyond for our patients and supporting the team members who care for them. The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational and financial performance of multiple orthodontic practices throughout the Bronx and Southern Westchester market. This hands-on leadership position supports Practice Managers, partners closely with orthodontists, develops high-performing teams, and drives sustainable practice growth. The Area Manager will also play an important role in market expansion, process improvement, leadership development, and delivering a consistent Brite experience across every assigned location. Practice Operations and Growth Oversee daily operations across assigned orthodontic practices, including front-office, administrative, financial, and clinical-support workflows. Partner with Practice Managers and orthodontists to improve scheduling, staffing, patient flow, productivity, and the overall patient experience. Monitor performance indicators such as new-patient consultations, case acceptance, case starts, same-day starts, production, collections, and patient retention. Develop and execute practice-level action plans that support revenue, profitability, and growth goals. Identify operational challenges and implement consistent, practical solutions across the market. Support new-office openings, integrations, and other regional growth initiatives as needed. Leadership and Team Development Provide direct leadership, coaching, and accountability to Practice Managers. Lead the onboarding, training, and ongoing development of Practice Managers and other key team members. Help Practice Managers build engaged, productive, and patient-focused teams. Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular check-ins, coaching sessions, and performance reviews. Support recruiting, employee relations, succession planning, and team-retention efforts. Promote a positive workplace culture that reflects Brite Orthodontics’ values and commitment to exceptional patient care. Doctor and Practice Partnership Build trusted, collaborative relationships with Brite orthodontists and clinical leaders. Serve as a strategic operational partner, helping doctors achieve practice, team, and patient-care goals. Ensure clinical-support operations align with doctor schedules and treatment needs. Facilitate productive communication between practice teams, doctors, and company leadership. Share ownership of each practice’s profit-and-loss performance in partnership with the Practice Manager. Review financial statements, budgets, labor expenses, production, collections, and other operating measures. Identify performance gaps and lead corrective action plans. Strengthen patient-financing, insurance-verification, accounts-receivable, and collection processes. Balance growth and cost management without compromising care quality or the patient experience. Communication and Reporting Conduct regular site visits to observe operations, coach team members, deliver training, and support practice performance. Present practice results, market trends, risks, and opportunities to the Director of Operations and other company leaders. Ensure important company initiatives and operating standards are communicated and implemented consistently. Attend leadership meetings and present updates on key operational and financial measures. Qualifications Dental or orthodontic practice experience is required. Previous multi-location operations experience in orthodontics, dentistry, healthcare, or another patient-focused environment. Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold leaders and teams accountable. Prior responsibility for practice financial performance, including the ability to interpret financial statements and take appropriate action. Strong understanding of orthodontic practice operations, patient flow, scheduling, treatment coordination, and revenue-cycle processes. Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Sound judgment and the ability to make independent decisions in a fast-moving, multi-site environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Proficiency with practice-management systems and business-reporting tools. Bachelor’s degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and relevant operational experience. Ability to travel approximately 60–70% among assigned offices in the Bronx and Southern Westchester market.
